We offer a full Vegetarian and Vegan service, not just lip service to one!
There are many B&B’s who claim to offer vegetarian and vegan options when what they really do is simply remove the bacon, sausage and egg from the normal full English breakfast.
We, on the other hand, have a separate vegetarian breakfast menu, one of the reasons we hold a ‘Breakfast Award’ that and of course, the quality of the food we serve.
We have full a la carte evening meal menus with separate menus for Vegetarian and Vegan options not just the odd one dish and we even have a ‘Special Diets’ option for those with various allergies.
We are happy to adapt to any specific customer requirement, ‘GI’, Atkins, Weight Watchers, you name it we will work to it if requested in advance.
We always have available Soya Milk and Semi-Skimmed Milk in addition to the Full Milk we normally serve.
We always have Vegan Yoghurts on hand as well as Gluten Free bread and rolls.
We make all our own standard bread and rolls, it is all, always, Vegan.
We also offer a main stream menu with plenty of meat based dishes – we do not discriminate in any way.
Have a look at some of the comments left by previous guests on the ‘Guest Comments’ page, many of these are from Vegetarians and Vegans expressing their delight at finding a B&B that truly can deliver them food and a service they thought would be restricted to just their own homes
During our time running a food factory we learned the importance of ingredient separation. When dealing with nuts on site, with the horrendous allergy problems they can cause, clear segregation is an imperative. We apply the same principles to Vegetarian and Vegan items as well as their cooking to avoid any form of cross contamination. No, we do not have separate pots and pans, that’s what washing is for and frankly if a proper washing programme is good enough for M&S and their nut policy, it should be good enough for anyone!
We need to be honest, we understand some Vegetarians and Vegans have extreme views and will simply not tolerate visiting somewhere that has meat on site or even has leather furniture in the property. To these people we apologise but have to say White House is not the place for you. We do have meat on site, we are meat eaters ourselves and feel meat eaters have the same right to their views and preferences as anyone else and should not be denied them. Likewise we do have some leather furniture in two of the public rooms because it’s comfortable and hard wearing so again, if this offends you we are sorry but White House is not the place for you.
