We ‘pinched’ a few days away at the end of January as things were quiet, the lull before the storm, we hope. Toddled off to Portland for R&R and for someone else to cook for a change, Isabel put her foot down and refused to cook anything past 9:30 in the morning.

Eating out down there is OK but we found to be a bit hit and miss. One or two of the restaurants we went to are worth giving a miss next time but some of the others were stunning, we even pushed the boat out with a Michelin star place in Dorchester and well worth the effort (and expense!) it was too.

We are back, several pounds heavier and with even more liver damage but also with lots of new foodie ideas which we intend to play with over the next few weeks, so look out for new Michelin inspired items appearing on the menus shortly. Don’t panic, they won’t be Michelin star prices!

Just thought you might like to know that White House is now featured on Tripadvisor. The full listing should be operational soon although it is out of my hands as to just how long they take in getting it all together. I have done my bit by submitting all the information and enough pictures to create a slide-show so we just have to wait and see.

You will find there are two direct links on our site to our entry on their site. The first is on each page and takes you to the reviews that have already been posted and I have to say they are all exceedingly complimentary. The second is on our own ‘Guest Comments’ page and gives the opportunity for guests to add their own comments, directly to Tripadvisor, should they so wish (and we hope they do!)

A very quick up-date to let you all know that revised menus are now on-line. I have to admit that most of the changes are in the ‘Main Menu’ menu but we are working on new ideas for both the Vegetarian and Vegan versions and will up-date these as soon as we can. You will notice there is a new ‘Limited Editions Specials’ page with items that are only going to be available for a relatively short time, this page will be up-dated quite often. More news later.

What can I say? Another year gone in the blink of any eye, well that’s how it feels to Isabel and I, must be something to do with our age! Years appear to be going much faster than when we were in our twenties. Not that either of us can remember that far back with any clarity!!

To all our loyal and returning guests, to all those looking for a wonderful place to stay near Oswestry and to all those who just stumble on this site by chance let me say we hope you have had a great Christmas and that the New Year brings you everything you hope for as well as good health and happiness.

Keep an eye open on our ‘Cuisine’ page because the revised menus will be going up very soon.

Now don’t all fall over at once but this is our new and long awaited, web-site.

Why did we need a new one I hear you shout, the old one was OK. Yes it was OK but lacked a certain something which at least we think, this one has. You will also see we now have an on-line enquiry system to make customers lives easier and downloadable copies of all our evening meal a la carte menus, so there is no need to wait for yours truly to get around to e-mailing one.

Why long awaited? There were some major technical issues when the site first went live (at least half an hour) or more accurately when just some of the site went live. Great chunks simply vanished into the ether, never to be seen again and this caused a certain amount of head scratching and a lot of re-working all of which had to be fitted in between our tame IT gurus paying work, one of the problems of Dad getting a freebee!

We think the wait was worth it and are more than pleased with the outcome, we hope you like it too and the guest comments both on this site, Google and Tripadvisor, the outstanding facilities described on this site and your desire to be treated and fed like Royalty will help you decide Whitehouse is the best B&B in Oswestry area for your stay.

Many guests think we are simply the best B&B – full stop!

P.S. There might be the odd glitch found over the next few days as we see what links etc have failed to work but I am sure they will be few and fast sorted so please bear with us!

Award winning Breakfasts and highly acclaimed Evening Meals with separate a la carte menus for :-

‘Meat Eaters’ – ‘Vegetarians’ – ‘Vegans’ – ‘Allergy Diets’ – ‘Lite Bites’ and even a ‘Little Peoples’ menu.

We specialize in vegetarian cuisine but are by no means exclusively vegetarian.

We don’t pretend to be a restaurant although guests have paid us the huge complement of claiming our food is up to that standard. We aim to offer the highest standard, best quality food we can. We take great pains to source top quality ingredients then cook them in a way that won’t muck them up!

We will accommodate ALL reasonable culinary requirements, vegetarian and vegan naturally but also lactose intolerant, Celiac in fact just about anything required provided we are given prior notice when booking.

One guest questioned how we could get across to potential guests the quality of the food we serve so we added “gastro” to our description to try to reflect this quality.

We have received some wonderfully complementary comments from guests and this just encourages us to do more, try harder and come up with even better recipe ideas, why not have a look ar some of the comments on the 'Guest Comment' section.

For a full two or three course meal we do need to know what you would like by 3pm, so if you expect to be arriving after this please down load the appropriate menu and let us know what you would like pre 3pm on your day of arrival and we will then make sure your meal is ready for you at the time you want.

Please Note We do not have a drinks license so please feel free to bring your own alcohol with you. We will happily look after it for you, warm or chill as required and provide glasses as needed.
